A new year is the perfect time to do some, well, renewing. And we’re talking about everything from renewing our canceled plans to renewing our positive outlook. Let’s start small and make the most of this fresh start.
Today’s Activity
Take a look at your closet, pantry or refrigerator. What’s in there that no longer serves you? Maybe some pants you bought ten years ago and still haven’t worn. Maybe those shoes that look good but are incredibly uncomfortable. Go through each item and see what you can part with.
Letting go of things that deplete your energy is an incredibly effective practice. It can reduce stress and anxiety and give you a sense of accomplishment. It also allows you to figure out what you truly value so that you know what to look for in future purchases.
And, hey, if your closet is already in good shape, take a look at the fridge, pantry or garage — there’s definitely something in your home that could use a refresh.
Today’s Recipe
You’re going to get hungry during all that cleaning. Energy balls are one of our favorite snacks.
Ingredients:
8 Medjool dates, pitted
100g almond flour
2 tbsp cacao powder
45g desiccated coconut, plus extra for rolling
2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- In a glass bowl, cover the dates with boiling water and let them soak for 30 minutes to soften.
- Drain.
- Place the almond flour, dates, cacao powder, vanilla and coconut in a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until well combined.
- Using wet hands, roll tablespoons of the mixture into snack-sized balls. Roll to coat in extra coconut.
- Place the balls on a lined tray (with baking paper) and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
